  1. A true leader has many qualities that makes her stay put on her journey to success. The ability to strategize and implement the strategy for maximum results is paramount in an entrepreneur’s life. We met Debra Basson, an award winning strategy expert to know how she empowers business owners and here are some insights from our conversation with her.

“I’m passionate about problem-solving and creating value, so I launched my
latest venture, Simplified Strategy. It is focused on helping businesses
streamline their strategies to achieve growth without being overwhelmed. My
entrepreneurial journey began when I realized that micro to mid-sized
businesses struggle with overly complicated approaches. I wanted to give
them a path that is both practical and effective.
Becoming a serial entrepreneur came accidentally and naturally-I didn’t
choose the path; it chose me, but it feels like I was born to be an
entrepreneur. I’ve always been motivated to tackle new challenges. Each new
venture offers an opportunity to learn, grow, and impact a different sector.
The diversity of fields keeps me sharp and innovative, and I’m fuelled by
seeing tangible results from the businesses I help. My ventures are always
driven by curiosity, a desire to solve unmet needs, and a passion for
    helping others succeed.”

  2.  In the modern gig economy, what is the importance of a business strategy
that rests on diversity, versatility, and innovation?
“In today’s gig economy, businesses must be agile. A strategy grounded in
diversity, versatility, and innovation is crucial because it helps companies
to adapt quickly to market shifts and customer needs. Clients and customers
expect more flexibility, faster solutions, and creative problem-solving. A
diverse strategy allows you to tap into various markets and trends while
versatility enables you to pivot when necessary. Innovation keeps your
    business relevant and competitive.
Moreover, in an economy where collaboration with freelancers and contractors
is the norm, businesses must be able to integrate different talents,
technologies, and ideas. It is about creating a dynamic ecosystem where all
    parts-internal or external-work together smoothly.”
  3. What factors count in making a strategy that would reap great results?
How do you, as a strategy expert, measure the success ratio of a business
    strategy?

“The critical factors in building a successful strategy include clarity,
alignment with the brand’s vision, and adaptability. A great plan starts
with clear objectives and a deep understanding of the market and customer
needs. It must also be flexible enough to adjust to challenges without
losing sight of the end goals.
I measure a strategy’s success by looking at quantitative and qualitative
indicators. On the quantitative side, I track metrics like revenue growth,
customer acquisition, and retention rates. On the qualitative side, I gauge
how well the strategy resonates with the target audience and whether it’s
fostering innovation within the company. The success ratio isn’t just about
hitting numbers-it’s about long-term sustainability and how the strategy
positions the business for future opportunities.”

  4. How important is your understanding of your client’s brand? How do you
ensure you are getting a grip on this to deliver the best to your client?

“Understanding my client’s brand is critical. I see it as the foundation upon
which I build tailored, authentic, and effective strategies. A strategy that
doesn’t align with the brand’s identity is bound to fail.
I invest time in deep research to truly grasp a client’s brand. I explore
their mission, values, audience, and competitors. Where possible, I also
have direct conversations with clients to gain insights into their vision
and challenges and delve into their online reputation.  I ensure constant
communication throughout the process to stay aligned with their goals, which
helps me deliver a strategy that doesn’t just work but resonates with their
    core brand.”

  5.  What is your one message for the readers?

    1. “My message is simple: Stay open to evolving. Whether running a business or
building your career, always continue learning and adapting. Embrace
challenges as opportunities for growth, and remember that simplicity often
leads to the best results. With the right strategy, you can cut through the
noise and make meaningful progress, no matter your field.”
